Earth Hour Recap

Green13 wants to extend a big thank you to friends and neighbhours who took part in its annual Earth Hour walk through High Park on March 24.

With candles and a waxing moon to light their way, about 150 people strolled through the High Park Zoo where lamas, goats, and wallabies could be seen moving in the dark of their enclosures.

From there, they made their way to the park's children's garden and toured the teaching kitchen to learn about its environmentally-friendly features, including straw bale construction.

The crowd ended its walk at High Park's Grenadier Restaurant where staff stayed late at their posts to serve hot chocolate. Many thanks for that.

Thanks too to Green13 co-founder and Ward 13 city councillor Sarah Doucette who joined us again this year.

And don't forget - Sarah will be hosting a community environment day Saturday, May 18 at Sir Casimir Gzowski Park on the Lakeshore, where you can drop off electronics, pick up green bins and donate art supplies to schools for reuse.
